Sarah Lorenz, a native Washingtonian, is a Pony Club graduate “A” and USEA Level II certified instructor. In the earlier years of Sarah’s riding career, she was very active as an Area VII Young Rider. Sarah won the CCI* long format Fritz Cup in ’91 and team silver medal winner (12th of 52 individually) of the CCI** long format North American Young Rider Championships at Bromont, Quebec in ’92.

The following year in ’93, Sarah and her horse Stone’s Throw added a 2nd and 4th place finish at the Advanced level under coach Dayna Lynd-Pugh. She credits much of her years of competition success to local trainers such as Todd Trewin (US Olympic event rider), Jean Moyer (successful national eventing/dressage coach), Judy Thocher (accomplished dressage instructor/rider), and John Turner (nationally recognized hunter/jumper instructor).

Sarah later traveled to the east coast to train for a few years with ICP faculty member Phyllis Dawson and Major Jeremy Beale. After intensive training and competing, she returned to Washington to finish her bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Sciences from the UW.  Upon finishing school Sarah then began her teaching / training business “Stone’s Throw Farm.”

Stone’s Throw Farm is a training, sales, and breeding business that caters to the eventing and dressage community in the Pacific Northwest.  Sarah trains out of Gold Creek Equestrian Center in Woodinville, WA as well as HTH2 Ranch in Bow, WA.  The breeding side of her business in located at her home in Monroe, WA.  To ensure the young horses have adequate turnout while growing, Sarah has access to several nearby pastures.

Recently, Sarah has slowly been building a small breeding program aimed at producing both event and dressage horses.  Since it’s still in an infancy stage, many of the fillies will be retained for further improvement of the program.  The goal is to produce a dual purpose horse, bred for both it’s jumping ability and dressage movement, while keeping a significant amount of TB blood to meet the demands of modern eventing.  Many of the foals are registered American Holsteiner.  Sarah also manages the breeding program for HTH2 Ranch.
