Sarah Lorenz, a native Washingtonian, is a Pony Club graduate “A” and USEA Level II certified instructor. In the earlier years of Sarah’s riding career, she was very active as an Area VII Young Rider. Sarah won the CCI* long format Fritz Cup in ’91 and team silver medal winner (12th of 52 individually) of the CCI** long format North American Young Rider Championships at Bromont, Quebec in ’92.
The following year in ’93, Sarah and her horse Stone’s Throw added a 2nd and 4th place finish at the Advanced level. She credits much of her competition success to local trainers such as Todd Trewin (US Olympic Event rider), Jean Moyer (successful national Eventing/Dressage coach), Judy Thocher (accomplished dressage instructor/rider), and John Turner (nationally recognized Hunter/Jumper instructor).
Sarah later traveled to the east coast to train for a few years with ICP faculty member Phyllis Dawson and Major Jeremy Beale. After intensive training and competing, she returned to Washington to finish her bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Sciences from the UW. Upon finishing school Sarah then began her teaching / training business “Stone’s Throw Farm.”
Sarah teaches both adults and children in eventing and dressage. Recently, Stone’s Throw Farm and Gold Creek have joined forces which has given Sarah access to Gold Creek’s fleet of school horses! She can now accomidate anyone interested in learning to ride! Sarah also has extensive experience starting quality young horses as her personal competition mounts and for resale.
Stone’s Throw Farm is now located at Gold Creek Equestrian Center in Woodinville, Wa. Please call or email Sarah about boarding or training questions!
